MNEA pays tribute to former Executive Director

Jim Seibert
MNEA Executive Director 1979-1984

Former Missouri NEA Executive Director Jim Seibert passed away on May 6, 2024. A lifelong educator and NEA leader, Jim Seibert served as MNEA Executive Director from 1979 to 1984.

Also serving as the National Education Association Southeast Regional Director and Executive Director of two other NEA affiliates—the San Jose Education Association and the Washington Education Association—Jim spent his career bettering the lives of educators. One local paper compared him to Henry Kissinger (an American diplomat and former U.S. Secretary of State) for his commitment and diligence in bargaining for teachers and police departments.

Jim retired from Washington EA in 2001. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Washington Education Association Children’s Fund.

MNEA is deeply grateful for Jim Seibert’s service to educators and students of Missouri and his contributions to the growth and strength of the Missouri National Education Association.
