Professional Practice runs on three truths:

  1. “The ferocious push to dismantle public education is not motivated by the failures of our schools, but by the success of the project.” While there are plenty of areas that need improvement within public education, we are a much more equal and democratic society because of it. Educators must be a part of both upholding public education and being a part of its needed improvements (The Education Wars).
  2. “Teacher Unions have…been the strongest and most successful opponent of the privatization project…” That’s right! And we’re not backing down, ever. (Publicization).
  3. Growth is possible for every individual.
With these three truths as a part of Professional Practice’s foundational beliefs, we strive to help you build local power–from the classroom to DESE. This monthly communication via the new Professional Practice Department listserv is a part of this strategic mission of the department.

Once a month, MNEA will send this communication to give you frequent updates on the activity–and action, when necessary–at DESE and the Missouri State Board of Education. Further, you will get updates on upcoming Professional Practice programs and a deep dive into trusted readings and resources that I reference when assessing the current Professional Practice landscape.

This Listserv and content is for Local Leaders and any member who wants to sign up for this steady stream of information. If you are a local leader, please feel free to copy and paste any of this information into your local communications to your membership; and do not hesitate to provide my contact information (below) for anyone who has further questions!

We’re happy you’re here!
