Missouri NEA Members Submit Nomination for Amanda Perschall to the PSRS/PEERS Board of Trustees

Missouri NEA members have achieved a remarkable milestone: They collected 2,987 signatures statewide to nominate Amanda Perschall for the Public School and Education Employee Retirement Systems of Missouri (PSRS/PEERS) Board of Trustees. This accomplishment reflects the unwavering commitment of educators to securing strong leadership for the retirement system that supports Missouri's public school employees.

The signature collection process is no small task. Candidates must obtain at least 1,000 valid signatures, with a minimum of 200 signatures coming from members or retirees in four different congressional districts. In a powerful display of unity and support, MNEA members collected signatures from six of Missouri's eight congressional districts and tripled the required total. This broad representation highlights the trust and respect Amanda commands among educators across the state.

Amanda Perschall, a dedicated career educator with 19 years of experience in Missouri public schools, exemplifies the qualities needed for this critical role. Currently the head of the High School Social Studies Department at Lebanon High School, Amanda teaches Honors Political Science, American Women's History, and American Heritage. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom—she has served on her district's Professional Development Committee, the Missouri Council for History Education Board, and the MNEA Board of Directors, as well as being a past local union president.

An audit committee will review and certify the signature on January 22, 2025. By mobilizing thousands of educators statewide, MNEA members have showcased the strength of their collective voice and their dedication to securing a strong advocate for Missouri’s education community on the PSRS Board of Trustees.
